South Korea unexpectedly responded to Ukraine's request

The South Korean government has refused to sell arms to Ukraine, the South Korean SBS TV channel reports, citing high-ranking sources.

"It is known that our government has expressed an objection," the article says.

It is noted that Ukraine wanted to receive from Korea the "Chongun" air defense system, anti-combat radar stations, as well as 155 mm rocket launchers.

The South Korean agency Yonhap reported about protests in Seoul against the transfer of lethal weapons to Kiev.

On Wednesday, a special delegation headed by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov visited South Korea and met with President Yun Seok Yeol. According to SBS, before the meeting, the Ukrainian side asked Korea not only for free aid, but for the opportunity to buy weapons.
