Abkhazia's opposition has stated that presidential elections should be held legally

The presidential elections in Abkhazia must be held in a legal and democratic manner, one of the leaders of the opposition, Adgur Ardzinba, the head of the non-governmental organization "Abkhazian People's Movement", announced this while speaking to supporters, Georgian media reported.

"The upcoming elections should be held in a legal, democratic manner, so that there are no violations and use of administrative resources for the benefit of anyone," he said.

Earlier, Ardzinba announced that the Abkhazian opposition agreed that the duties of the president of the republic should be performed by the vice-president Badra Gyunba. According to him, the opposition rejected the proposal of the current president of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, that he would sign a resignation letter only after the opposition leaves the complex of government buildings.
