Negotiations on a peace treaty with Armenia are “on pause”: Aliyev announced the timing

Aliyev actually postponed negotiations on a peace treaty until the end of the COP29 summit in Baku. Yerevan was ready to sign a peace treaty even before the conference. Azerbaijan and Armenia will continue negotiations on a peace treaty after the COP29 climate conference in Baku, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The conversation took place at the initiative of the German side. Berlin, apparently, wants to intercept the initiative of Washington, which was pushing the parties to sign as quickly as possible, even before the US elections. As the press service of the President of Azerbaijan reported, Scholz noted during the conversation that Berlin calls on the parties to take bold steps in this direction. Aliyev in a conversation with Scholz, he accused Yerevan of a “significant delay” in proposals for the text of the document, noting that this had a negative impact on the process. At the same time, he added that the parties are close to reaching a final agreement on the text of the document, and negotiations will continue after the completion of the JOP. It was previously reported that Armenia on November 5 received new proposals from Azerbaijan for a peace treaty in response to its comments sent back in August. The Prime Minister Armenian Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated several times that Yerevan proposes that Baku in the near future (the last time it was about November - ed) to sign the already agreed upon points of the peace agreement and continue to work on the rest. Baku rejected this idea, saying that controversial issues cannot remain outside the document.
