Lindros predicted when Ovechkin could break Gretzky's record

Russian forward of the Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin can break the sniper record of the National Hockey League (NHL) held by Canadian Wayne Gretzky this season, said 2002 Olympic champion in the Canadian national team Eric Lindros. In 14 starting games of the 2024/25 season, Ovechkin scored 10 goals and scored 18 points."This is the most ordinary Alex - isn't it? You know, he can miss one game, and then come back with a double,” the official NHL website quotes Lindros as saying. On Sunday night, Moscow time, Ovechkin scored his 862nd and 863rd goals against the St. Louis Blues in his career in the NHL regular championships. He is 31 goals behind Gretzky's sniper record. "Maybe that year has arrived. I don't know, maybe he can do it by the end of February," the Hockey Hall of Fame member noted.
