The Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia is currently examining a motion to apply detention as a preventive measure against the second President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan. He was transferred from the medical center a short while ago.
Robert Kocharyan has been charged with abuse of official authority, money laundering of particularly large amounts, and receiving a bribe of particularly large amounts.
Let us recall that Robert Kocharyan was arrested the day before yesterday. His well-being at the Anti-Corruption Committee deteriorated, and he was transferred to a medical institution. The Anti-Corruption Committee reported that Robert Kocharyan will be brought to court after undergoing the necessary medical examinations.
Let us note that Nikol Pashinyan yesterday instructed law enforcement officers to deprive the second President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, and the third President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office issued a lengthy statement, which, in particular, states:
“On August 24, 2026, the Prosecutor General initiated a public criminal prosecution against the second President of the Republic of Armenia, R.K. (Robert Kocharyan – ed.), for abuse of official authority (3 counts), receiving a bribe in particularly large amounts (2 counts), and laundering money in particularly large amounts (4 counts).
The prosecutor has initiated public criminal prosecution against 9 more individuals, including: S.K. (Sedrak Kocharyan), son of the second President of the Republic of Armenia R.K., S.S. (Serzh Sargsyan), former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia S.S. (Serzh Sargsyan), former Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia A.M. (Andranik Margaryan), former Mayor of Yerevan G.B. (Gagik Beglaryan), participant of “Local Developers” LLC S.M. (Samvel Mayrapetyan), as well as A.O. (Aramais Vorskanyan), who held the position of director of the economy of Kond private houses and headed “Aigedzor” LLC, which carries out construction activities, A.O.’s wife and two daughters.
