Pelosi thinks Biden should have dropped out earlier

US President Joe Biden should have given up his plans for re-election earlier and given the Democratic Party a chance to choose a new candidate in the primaries.

This reviewThe New York Timesformer Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, who was re-elected to the lower house of the US Congress in the general elections held on November 5, said in an interview.

"If the president left earlier, other candidates could participate, it was assumed that if the president refused to be re-elected, open primaries would be held. But, since the president immediately supported Vice President Kamala Harris, it would be impossible to hold a primary.

As the newspaper notes, Pelosi thus voiced the rumors circulating in the Democratic Party regarding Biden's refusal to seek a second presidential term.

According to the publication, some American media reports that Pelosi played an important role in pushing Biden out of the pre-election race.

Pelosi has been serving in Congress since 1987. In 2007, she assumed the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives, becoming the first woman to hold this position in the United States.
