French President Emmanuel Macron and Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, had a telephone conversation during which they confirmed their desire to “work for the return of peace and stability” in the world. This was reported by Le Figaro and AP with reference to a statement from the Elysee Palace. Macron, as noted by the AP, “expressed his point of view on the importance for the United States to reckon with the EU.”
Both leaders also spoke on issues of Ukraine and the Middle East. Macron had a “very good discussion” with Trump, the Elysee Palace emphasized.
