Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani had a meeting with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in Tokyo. This is reported by the Japanese Mainichi periodical.
Nakatani and Borrell have announced that they will cooperate on a number of security-related issues that exist in the region from Europe to the Indo-Pacific region. The parties also stated that the security of Europe and Asia is inseparable.
They also discussed the topic of cooperation between Russia and the DPRK. In addition, Borel and Nakatani condemned North Korea's recent launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile. Later, Borel will meet with Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and hold the first session of the Japan-EU Strategic Foreign Policy Dialogue. During the visit, the parties will announce the partnership in the field of security and defense, as well as ratify the agreement on strategic partnership.
