US President Donald Trump stated that the United States will set 25% customs duties on the goods imported from Japan and South Korea to 25% since August 1. He published two official letters to the President of South Korea Lee Zhe Mun and two official letters to the Prime Minister of Japan Shigeru Isiba.
"Since August 1, 2025, we will define only 25% tariff for any Japanese product entering the United States, in addition to all sectoral tariffs," said the Prime Minister of Japan.
The letter sent to the President of South Korea stated:
"Since August 1, 2025, we will defines only 25% tariff on all Korean goods entering the United States, regardless of all industrial tariffs."
