The highest rate of measles has been registered in the United States over the past 33 years

The number of measles in the United States has reached the highest level of 33 years, more than 1277 established cases have been reported in 38 states and Colombia, according to the Washington Post, citing the data of the Innovative Center for Response to the Jones Hopkins University Epidemics.

"The United States has achieved the highest annual cases of measles in the last 33 years, at least 1277 in the 38 states and Columbia region," the statement said.

The biggest outbreak took place in West Texas, where more than 750 cases have been found since January. From the beginning of 2025, three people died of complications related to measles, including two healthy children in Texas and one man in New Mexico, who were not all vaccinated.

According to Washington Post, such a sharp increase in cases testifies to a serious setback in the fight against measles, against the background of the growth of moods against vaccinations.

The article also emphasizes that the United States may lose the status of a country that is considered a removal of measles, if the chain of the virus will last more than a year.
