"Hraparak" newspaper writes:
"Yesterday, the Parliament unanimously adopted the project presented by the KP MPs, which stipulates that former servicemen receiving pensions can return to contractual military service, maintaining the right to receive a pension.
However, the package of drafts presented by Armen Khachatryan and Andranik Kocharyan on amendments to the Law on "Military Service and the Status of Servicemen" and on amendments to the Law on "State Pension" provides such an opportunity to those holding the position of lieutenant colonel in the military units defined by the Ministry of Defense.
We asked the author of the project, Armen Khachatryan, why they don't also plan for the return of retired colonels and generals, who will bring order to the army with their experience.
"Colonel generals can also return to the service, they will simply occupy the positions, the maximum size of which is the class rank of lieutenant colonel.
We have a problem with recruiting officers at the platoon-platoon-battalion levels, we don't have a problem at the top levels, but if the colonel general wants to fill the position of lieutenant colonel, no problem, he will go, he will fill it, he will keep the general's pension and receive a colonel's salary, plus he will form a seniority."
