The European Commission has stopped the process of Georgia's accession to the European Union

The actual process of Georgia's accession to the European Union has been suspended. This was announced by the European Commission on Wednesday, October 30, calling on Tbilisi to implement comprehensive electoral reforms, reports moskva.bezformata.

The official report of the commission clarifies that Brussels was dissatisfied with the results of the parliamentary elections held in Georgia. The department was embarrassed not by the victory of the pro-European parties, but by the ruling "Georgian Dream", which seeks to maintain cooperation with Russia, the document says.

According to the opinion of the European Commission, the republic does not meet the norms of European foreign policy. This also applies to the maintenance of relations with Moscow, as well as to the increase of direct flights from Georgia to Russia.

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has started an investigation into possible frauds in the parliamentary elections.

Earlier, the opposition in Georgia announced the start of protests after the October 27 parliamentary elections. It was noted that the parties do not recognize the data published by the CEC. The protesters expressed dissatisfaction with the results of the last elections and demanded to repeat the procedure.
