"Hraparak" newspaper writes:
Nikol Pashinyan's recent actions against the Armenian Apostolic Church have given rise to serious suspicions within the government that their leader intends to create a new religious organization. Some circles discuss this perspective with horror, convinced that the conclusion of the unsuccessful steps against the Holy Father will be the formation of a new religious organization.
These concerns arose especially after, after a long struggle against the Church and His Holiness, at the beginning of the year, on the eve of the Holy Nativity, Nikol Pashinyan and the 10 bishops demanding the removal of the Catholicos announced the start of the "reform" of the Armenian Apostolic Church and published their so-called "road map".
With the document signed by 10 bishops and Pashinyan, a coordinating council is created, which should deal with the organizational issues of the "reform" of the Armenian Apostolic Church. One of the provisions of the road map is to adopt a new charter. "The regulations for maintaining the established principles, ensuring financial transparency and good behavior of the clergy should be established by the statute." We wrote that Pashinyan's close circle believes that Pashinyan himself is writing the charter and that it will be ready in mid-February, then it will be submitted to the registry of justice for registration.
It will be registered as another religious organization and, in fact, Nikol Pashinyan will become, in popular language, the founder of a new sect. There are currently more than six dozen religious organizations operating in Armenia, and the Armenian Apostolic Church will be one of them. The authorities are also almost sure that Nikol Pashinyan's claim that just as Serzh Sargsyan left unwillingly, so His Majesty will leave is quite far from reality.
They are sure that Garegin B will not leave voluntarily, and there is no other mechanism to remove him.
