Finland has seized part of the beach and other property belonging to the Russian Federation

The Finnish authorities have seized the part of the beach that belonged to the Russian Federation and was used for the recreation of diplomats, Yle TV and Radio broadcasting platform reported. According to the publication, confiscation of Russian state property has begun in various corners of Finland.

One of the objects is the seaside land belonging to the Russian Federation in the municipality of Hegesbil in Kirkkonummi. We are talking about 17.3 hectares of land and 3.5 hectares of sea water. The property was seized on October 24. It is said that tens of millions of dollars worth of property were confiscated.

According to Yle, the actions of law enforcement agencies are based on the International Arbitration Court in The Hague in 2023. on the decision made in April. According to the publication, the court also obliged Russia to pay more than 4 billion dollars as compensation to the Ukrainian energy company "Navtogaz".

In turn, the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper reported that at least five other real estate properties owned by Russians were confiscated in Helsinki and the Åland Islands. Among them is, for example, the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Helsinki. According to Helsingin Sanomat, Finland is possibly the first country that implemented confiscations.
