Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the territory of the Academic City.
Nikol Pashinyan was accompanied by the Head of the Prime Minister's Office Arayik Harutyunyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan.
During the visit, the steps to be taken in the direction of activation of the territory, in particular, the mapping of undifferentiated, uncontrolled garbage and buildings in the area of 275 ha of the Academic City, were presented.
Reference was made to the distribution of landscape infrastructures according to the plan, the works planned in the direction of greening, etc.
Next, the course of the excavations carried out in the territory of the "Academic City" was presented. It was informed that as part of the "Academic City" project, the archaeological expedition of the Research Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Armenia, as a result of the excavations carried out since October 15, discovered one of the ancient settlements of Yerevan with stone architecture, perhaps also one of the ancient settlements of Armenia and the South Caucasus, the settlement of Silikyan.
It was noted that the architectural compositions, the typology of stone tools and the complete absence of pottery are grounds for assuming that there was a pre-ceramic Neolithic settlement here. According to experts, this settlement of the post-glacial period occupied an area of more than one hectare.
So far, more than 20 rooms with a diameter of 2-4 m made of massive stones arranged in all shapes, a rich collection of tools made of granite and basalt have been excavated. There are no vanakat mines in the area, so it was imported from the vanakat imaginations of Aragats or Arzni.
Apart from ready-made tools and weapons, small vanakate scales and scales were also found, which prove that tools were made from vanakate and basalt on the spot.
