According to the Telegram channel "Military Chronicle", the road to creating corrective high-explosive aerial bombs (FABs) that can reach a distance of more than 400 km faces three main technological challenges.
The first task is to develop a cheap and massive jet accelerator that can be manufactured, installed on ready-made bombs and scaled up as needed. The second task is the development of a simple, serial planning and guidance module, which should have improved aerodynamics. A third problem is the guidance of the system, because at greater distances the bomb's electronics collect more errors, causing them to deviate from the target.
If successful, Russia will receive a weapon that can occupy an intermediate position between the US ATACAMS ballistic missiles and the HIMARS missile system. With the launch of FABs, Russian forces from the Kursk region can reach not only Kiev, but also the central regions of Ukraine, including Kremenchug and Krivoy Rog.
