Two types of foods triggering memory have been found

According to scientists of the Technology University of Virginia (USA), the daily use of processed meat and sugary carbonated beverages significantly increases the risk of cognitive capacity near the elderly adults. The results of the seven-year study were published in the magazine "Clinical Food" magazine (AJCN).

More than 5,000 Americans over 55 have participated in the study. The participants regularly completed memory tests and detailed food quantifications.

Data analysis has shown that the processed meat, such as bacon, sausage or ham, is 17% increases the risk of memory disorder. Each section of the carbonated beverage increases this risk by an additional 6%. A particularly declined decline in cognitive function was reported to those who regularly used two products together.

Scientists have said that other categories of over-busy food, such as snacks, biscuits or frozen food, have not shown so much effect on cognitive health. This allows the authors of the study to conclude that recycled meat and sugar drinks are the main risk factors.

Researchers recommend the elderly adults to reconsider their diet, to avoid recycled meat, replace carbonated drinks with water and prepare more often at home. They say these simple changes can significantly slow down the deterioration of memory and reduce the risk of demeaning.
