Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting of the BRICS outreach summit in Kazan, said that the Middle East is on the brink of a full-scale war.
“All this resembles a chain reaction and puts the entire Middle East on the brink of a full-scale war,” Putin said.
He recalled that the fighting that began in the Gaza Strip spread to Lebanon and affected other countries in the region. The degree of confrontation between Israel and Iran has increased sharply, the Russian leader added. Earlier, Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi spoke out for the need to immediately reduce the level of escalation in the Middle East region.
