Sugar substitute can kill cells of pancreas cancer

Stady extract developed by lactic acid bacteria can destroy pancreas cancer cells, leaving healthy cells in practice intact. This conclusion was scientists from the University of Hiroshima. The results of the study were published in the "International Molecular Science" (IJMS).

Researchers have used Lactobacillus Plantarum SN13t bacterial strain, the extract of the Leaf of the Statio (FSLE). During laboratory tests, the concentrated material significantly hindered the growth of pancreas cancer cells (PANC-1 line) than the usual extract. This processing has also proved that low toxic to healthy human kidney cells (hek-293 line).

The main anti-tumor compound was chlorogenic acid methylets (CAME). Its concentration increased during the fermentation, strengthening the biological activity of the shade.

The authors note that the cancer of pancreas remains the most reluctant and difficult-treatment cancer. With this diagnosis, the level of survival of patients in five years does not exceed 10%. That's why the search for new natural compounds is especially important.

The next stage of the study will be tested on animals. Scientists plan to find out which doses of the experimental drug provide the optimal therapeutic effect.
