"The problem of balanced territorial development has always been relevant in Armenia, because almost everything is concentrated in Yerevan. Accordingly, the issue of regional development is extremely important. We are talking about various infrastructures, other branches of the economy, and especially the social situation. In this regard, the average monthly salary in Yerevan and the republic's marzes gives an interesting picture. It turns out that the lowest salary is in Gegharkunik region, where the average salary is about 141 thousand drams. For comparison, let's note that in the capital, that figure is more than double, about 310 thousand drams. Aragatsotn and Lori marzes are at the bottom of the list with an average monthly salary of about 155,000 and 158,000 drams, respectively. Tavush and Ararat marzes "overcame" the threshold of 200 thousand drams. And again, the highest salary in the entire republic is in Syunik region. The average monthly rent here is about 40,000 drams more than in Yerevan and is about 350,000 drams. According to the estimates of economists and other experts, the first and main reason is that it is in Syunik that Armenia's No. 1 largest taxpayer, Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum, operates. the combine. It should be taken into account that the combine has around 5,000 employees, and it is this company that provides employment for citizens living in the region. If we add to this that ZPMK also solves many social issues in Syunik, then the picture becomes more complete."
