Ushakov named the number of participants at the BRICS summit in Kazan

At the BRICS summit in Kazan, 36 countries will be represented, 22 at the highest level and the leadership of six international organizations, said Assistant to the Russian President for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov.

“We expect the participation of representatives of 36 countries and the leadership of six international organizations. Specifically, we can say that 22 leaders from these 36 countries will be present. That is, 22 delegations will be represented at the summit at the highest level,” Ushakov told reporters.

BRICS is an interstate association created in 2006. Russia has held the post of chairman of the organization since January 1. In addition to the Russian Federation, Brazil, India, China and South Africa, from the beginning of 2024 Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE and Saudi Arabia joined BRICS. Russia's BRICS Chairmanship is held under the motto of strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security. As part of its chairmanship, the Russian Federation organizes more than 200 political, economic and social events. The BRICS summit with the participation of heads of state will be held in Kazan from October 22 to 24.
