Israeli Defense Minister publishes unexpected message

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant posted a post on the social network X, in which he hinted at the elimination of the head of the Politburo of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Yahya Sinwar, in the Gaza Strip.

“And you will drive out your enemies, and they will fall before you by the sword. We will get to all the terrorists and destroy them,” Galant quoted an excerpt from the third book of the scripture Leviticus.

Attached to the minister's post is an infographic with crossed out photographs of Hamas military wing commander Mohammed Ad-Deif and the leader of the Shiite Hezbollah movement Hassan Nasrallah, both of whom were previously killed by the Israeli army. Between them is an empty rectangle, which is also crossed out, indicating the liquidation of another wanted person, which has not yet been officially announced.

The post was published amid numerous media reports about the possible elimination in the Gaza Strip of Sinwar, who is the most wanted Hamas leader in Gaza, as it was he who organized and planned the unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

At this time, there is no official confirmation of Sinwar's elimination, but senior Israeli security sources confirm that he was indeed eliminated. According to Israeli TV Channel 12, DNA testing and other medical tests confirm that the body brought to Israel from Gaza belongs to Sinwar.

Earlier on Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it was verifying information about whether Sinwar was among a group of eliminated members of Palestinian radical groups during one of the latest operations in the Gaza Strip.
