We have a lot to learn from tradition and history in the context of education reform. Zhanna Andreasyan

RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan Kh. In the Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Abovyan, he participated in the international conference entitled "The Nersisian School of Tbilisi and its role in the educational life of the Caucasus", dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Nersisian School.

The minister welcomed the participants of the conference and among the many events dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Nersisyan School, he especially emphasized the importance of holding the conference in terms of activating the research component in universities, getting involved in science, and making educational research at the Pedagogical University an integral part of the educational routine.

"I am deeply convinced that we have a lot to learn from the traditions and history of education, especially in the context of education reform. Nersisyan School has been one of the famous institutions using the progressive thought of our education, the best pedagogical methods of the time, and this conference is a great opportunity to talk about it, and also to see the connections between the current reality and what needs to be done. Similar conferences are also important from the point of view of forming analytical and examination views among future educators, preparing education specialists and teachers ready for challenges," said Zhanna Andreasyan.

He briefly referred to the activities of writer, public speaker, pedagogue Ghazarogh Aghayan, who studied at Nersisyan school. The minister spoke about Aghayan's series of articles published in the "Ararat" magazine back in 1869, which, according to him, is still relevant today.

"The questions that Aghayan asks are relevant even today. he tried to answer the question of what the school of his time offered, considering the connection between school and life as problematic. According to Aghayan, what is learned at school is rejected in life, and one should be more careful about the content and analyze how well the school prepares children for life in mental, physical, spiritual and emotional terms, "said the Minister of Education and Culture.

He emphasized the special concern of the Georgian partners for the preservation of the Nersisyan school area, where the educational institution still operates today. "This year, within the framework of the RA Prime Minister's visit to Georgia, a commemorative plaque was opened, which shows the connection between history, times and territories. I am confident that this research in the field of education will contribute to the development and strengthening of ties between brotherly countries."

Zhanna Andreasyan congratulated the participants and colleagues of the conference and wished them good progress.

Rector of the university Srbuhi Gevorgyan and RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia Ashot Smbatyan were also present at the opening ceremony of the conference and gave a speech of welcome.

The purpose of the conference is to reflect on the history of the Nersisian school, the educational and cultural life of Armenia, and the history of Armenian-Georgian relations.

The conference will continue on October 18. It is implemented by Kh. On the initiative of Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University and Tbilisi "Caucasus" University.
