Paris organizes ministerial conference on nuclear security of Ukraine

Paris will organize a ministerial conference on the defense and nuclear security of Ukraine on Thursday, the French Foreign Ministry said in a communique. It is reported that all countries participating in the conference on Ukraine, which was held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on June 15-16, are invited to the conference. It will be opened by the new head of the French Foreign Ministry, Jean-Noël Barrault.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the event "reflects France's commitments" made at the June conference and "is part of the peace plan proposed by (Vladimir) Zelensky."

“It must contribute to the preparations for the second peace summit, to which France, along with Ukraine, remains fully committed. This conference will be aimed at taking stock of the situation with Ukrainian nuclear power plants and addressing issues related to assistance mechanisms for Ukraine,” they said at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On Thursday morning, ahead of the conference, Barro will also hold talks with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi. Zelensky reiterated his intention to hold a second summit on Ukraine in November, despite the fact that his office had previously said that the event planned for November would not take place next month. will take place.

The first conference on Ukraine was held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on June 15-16. The Kremlin stated that looking for ways out of the situation in the Ukrainian conflict without the participation of Russia is absolutely illogical and futile.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin came up with initiatives for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine: Moscow will immediately cease fire and declare its readiness for negotiations after the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territory of new regions of Russia. In addition, he added, Kyiv must announce its renunciation of intentions to join NATO and carry out demilitarization and denazification, as well as accept a neutral, non-aligned and nuclear-free status. The Russian leader also mentioned the lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

After the terrorist attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Kursk region, Putin also called it impossible to negotiate with those who “indiscriminately attack civilians, civilian infrastructure, or try to create threats to nuclear energy facilities.” Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov later stated that Moscow’s peace proposals for a Ukrainian settlement, previously voiced by the Russian head of state, have not been annulled, but at this stage, “taking into account this adventure,” Russia will not talk with Ukraine.
