Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to withdraw peacekeeping forces from the combat zone in southern Lebanon for their own safety.

"I want to appeal directly to the UN Secretary General: the time has come to withdraw UNIFIL (peacekeepers of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon) from Hezbollah strongholds and combat areas... move UNIFIL forces out of harm's way.
