Nine people were injured during shelling in the Belgorod region

Ukrainian troops shelled the city of Shebekino in the Belgorod region, nine people were injured, said the head of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov. “As a result of two shellings, nine civilians were wounded. All victims with various shrapnel wounds were taken by the SMP brigade and self-defense fighters to the Shebekino Central District Hospital,” he wrote in the Telegram channel.

According to the governor, four people were then taken to Belgorod City Hospital No. 2, the condition of one of them is assessed as serious. Three more wounded were taken to the regional clinical hospital. In addition, two people were sent to outpatient treatment after receiving medical care.

According to preliminary data, windows were broken in three apartment buildings and two private households, and facades were damaged. In addition, 11 cars were cut by shrapnel. During the second shelling, outbuildings caught fire, and firefighters are already fighting the fire. Also in the apartment building, a gas pipe was broken, and there was damage to the power line. Emergency teams will begin their restoration after agreement with the Ministry of Defense, Gladkov emphasized.

Ukrainian troops regularly attack the central and border regions of Russia, launching drone strikes and carrying out sabotage. Since April 11, 2022, a high (yellow) level of terrorist danger has been established throughout the entire territory of the Belgorod region. This step was taken due to the increased activity of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the border areas.

The length of the Ukrainian border with the Belgorod region is 350 kilometers. On August 9, 2024, a counter-terrorist operation regime was introduced in the region; on August 15, the situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency.
