42 Armenian candidates are nominated for local elections in Belgium

On October 13, local self-government elections will take place in Belgium. There are names of Armenian candidates in the lists of almost all parties in the Belgian political field.

According to the correspondent of "Armenpress" in Brussels, 42 Armenian candidates were nominated for local government elections, who are fighting to become members of the council of elders. It is noteworthy that the overwhelming majority of Armenian candidates are young people. This enthusiasm is due to the results of some Armenian candidates in the federal, regional and European elections held in June, which, although they did not get enough votes, the number of votes they got was telling.

The Belgian-Armenian community is one of the most integrated communities in the economic and cultural life of the country. The young generation of Belgian-Armenians broke the century-old stereotype of the community to stay away from politics and decided to actively participate in political life as well. The presence of 42 Armenian candidates in the local government elections in Belgium is an unprecedented event for the community. According to polls, some of these candidates have chances to become members of the local council of elders. The candidates want to make the issues that concern the community heard at the political level.
