The authorities of the Czech city banned burying people in coffins

The authorities of the Czech city of Zdar nad Sazavou banned burying people in coffins, which caused a scandal among local residents. This was reported by CNN Prima News.

Hundreds of families in this city are protesting against the fact that they are not allowed to bury their loved ones in a coffin, the newspaper writes.

It is noted that the ban was introduced due to the high groundwater level in 80 percent of the cemetery territory, as well as clay soil that does not allow sufficient air to pass through. Because of this, some city residents had to exhume their deceased loved ones and move their remains to another location.

Prior to this, England decided to reuse old Victorian-era cemeteries due to a lack of space. Closed Victorian cemeteries across England and Wales that are deemed to be "full" can be reopened for new burials. To achieve this, the necessary changes will be made to the law.
