1988 February 20 is a symbolic day, as 37 years ago, a cornerstone of a struggle, which became the football point of the Armenian people's reflection. The special session of the NKAO People's Deputies on that day, expressing the united will of the Armenian people and guided by the relevant provisions of the USSR Constitution, decided to apply the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR to withdraw the NKAO from Azerbaijan and to include in Armenia. This is stated in a statement issued by the Artsakh National Assembly.
"Azerbaijan opposed the policy of the Armenian population of the NKAAA, which has become the working style of the military-political leadership of that country for more than 35 years. Its peak in 2023 It was the September 19 military aggression. Unfortunately, with the silent agreement of the world, Azerbaijan has occupied a part of the homeland of the Armenian people with the threat of a new genocide.
As a result of this great historical and national tragedy, 150,000 people of Artsakh were forced to be displaced from their settlements and to find refuge in the Republic of Armenia, and to restore national dignity with Greek and determination to restore national dignity.
But the will and determination of the rewarded Armenian was never allowed to despair.
The breath of the February Renaissance, the blood and sweat, which have shown for the homeland, statehood, freedom and independence, motivate us to fall into trouble.
We, as the people of Artsakh, will continue to fight. The right of the people of the Artsakh Republic to the people of the Artsakh Republic is not only legal, but also fully fits into the context of the norms and principles of international law.
Despite the visible and invisible guts, the restoration of the lost right of the Armenian people must become a core of the current generation.
Today, remembering the February 20 Board of 1988, we reaffirm our inhabitant right to go to righteousness and maintain historical memory, "the statement said.
