The lawsuit filed by Azerbaijan against Armenia at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague is not new, new documents have now been sent.
Sputnik Armeniawas informed about this by the office of Armenia’s representative for international legal affairs Yeghishe Kirakosyan.Earlier, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported that Baku had filed a lawsuit against Armenia at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, demanding compensation for environmental damage and the alleged destruction of the unique nature of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The lawsuit was filed on February 12, based on the 1979 Bern Convention “On the Conservation of Wild Flora and Fauna and Natural Habitats in Europe”.
Kirakosyan’s office clarified that Azerbaijan had filed the initial lawsuit several years ago.
After that, the court gave Baku time to prepare the main documents. They were submitted on February 12.
Earlier, Armenia announced that the issues raised by the Azerbaijani side within the framework of the trial were in no way related to the convention.
