ZCMC employees, wake up and return to work. Statement from the mayor of Kajaran

The Kajaran community council and the community head have appealed to the residents:

Dear residents of the Kajaran community, esteemed employees of "ZPMK" CJSC, come to your senses and return to work to avoid irreversible losses and deprivations, and always remember that we are the ones who will create our and our children's destinies.

The Kajaran community council, headed by the community head Manvel Paramazyan, calls on us to return to normal work and restart the work process of the combine. If this continues, this inaction will inflict terribly heavy and irreversible blows on us hour by hour, and we will all feel the severe socio-economic consequences of these blows in our families and everyday life, in the community, in the region and in the country.

But we, the people of Kajaran, will be the direct bearers of these blows, because we have no other type of occupation here that we can survive and live with. The city of Qajaran was founded on the basis of the combine, and today, to put the combine out of operation means to destroy and demolish the city of Qajaran, to eliminate the 66-year history of our city. Even in the 1990s, during the difficult post-war period, the people of Qajaran did not allow the work of the combine to stop even for a single day, but devoted themselves day and night to the development of the combine, even with a meager salary.

And since the combine is the parent of our city, which child would treat its parent in such a way, and we all must show a resolute will and operate the combine, giving new life to our city and the people of Qajaran. Together and unitedly, for the sake of our city, our birthplace and our children, we must restore the works and not completely nullify the legacy left by our older generation. In decades to come, our generations will judge us not for why the plant stopped working, but for why we didn't solve the problem without stopping the plant.

For years, we have been proud of our hard work as residents of the city of work and glory, but today we have forgotten that glory and, having forgotten it, we are leading ourselves to self-destruction. Sparapet Vazgen Sargsyan is right to say that it is better to light a candle than to constantly complain about the darkness, and the restart of the plant is that one candle for all of us.

At the same time, the Kajaran Community Council understands the issues raised by you: the size of salaries, improvement of working conditions, health insurance and other issues, which will receive a positive solution in a very short period of time, as Roman Khudoli, General Director of ZCMK CJSC, mentioned in his speech, and we will also be consistent in the urgent and timely resolution of these issues, for which we guarantee, but if this continues, tomorrow the work of our preschools and community-based organizations will be disrupted, which will be fraught with irreversible and grave social consequences.

Honorable people of Kajaran, we have nowhere else to go from here, because the path of a working person leads only to Kajaran, and we have no right to close that path of work, because we have a debt to pay to our descendants. But we also have no right to take the path of exile, because we have been entrusted with the development and creation of our birthplace. And remember, cutting off the hand that gives bread will become a stigma for all of us, and that is where our story will end.

With respect, Kajaran Community Council
