Several oppositionists have been detained during a rally in Tbilisi

Georgian law enforcement officers have arrested several opposition militants during the entrance to Tbilisi, including the leader of the Coalition For Change. According to the data, there are other oppositionists among the detainees.

Earlier, protesting citizens gathered at the entrance to Tbilisi and tried to partially close the highway. The police did not allow them to do so, after which the arrests began. The Georgian Interior Ministry has not yet made an official statement about the number of detainees.

The Georgian Dream has accelerated the law, which the closure of the roads has become a punishable act under the Criminal Code. Before the rally, the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued two warning statements.

Citizens demand new parliamentary elections in the country and release the citizens who are detained during protests.

Protests began when Prime Minister Irakli Kobachidze announced that it was decided to suspend the EU's discussion on the country's EU membership until 2028.

During the protests, law enforcement officers detained several hundred people.
