Reuters. Kyiv demanded compensation of 6.6 billion euros from EU countries

The Kiev regime has called on Brussels to release 6.6 billion euros from the European Peace Fund, which was unblocked by Hungary and was intended to pay compensation to EU countries for military supplies to Ukraine in 2023.

This was reported by Reuters, referring to the letter of Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov to European institutions, a copy of which was obtained by the agency. In the letter, the Ukrainian official calls on the European Union to transfer all this money to Ukraine for military needs, allegedly to use a certain "window of opportunity" on the "battlefield" that he believes will last six to nine months.

Fedorov claims that Ukraine needs €136 billion for defense in 2026, of which he can allegedly cover €53 billion, and the EU has already promised him an additional €45 billion as part of a €90 billion funding plan over two years.

Earlier, the spokesperson of the European Commission, Balazs Uyvari, said that Ukraine is actually behind the schedule of using the military funding already received from the European Commission.

According to him, the European Commission was forced to split its first tranche of €5.9 billion in drone funding, handing only €3.9 billion to Kyiv on June 30, as this was the only amount Kiev was able to submit on that date to submit contracts for the purchase of drones from the European military-industrial complex.
