The US Federal Aviation Department (FAA) has closed the low-level route near Washington's airport, where the plane crash took place, CNN reported, citing a FAA official.
"The low-high helicopter corridor used during this week's deadly air collision was closed indefinitely by the Federal Aviation Department," the station said in a statement.
According to CNN, the FAA decision is the "most serious operation" of the agency after the disaster.
On Thursday night at Ronald Reagan Airport of Washington, Bombardier Crj700 Regional Airlines of American Airlines collided with Sikorsky H-60 (Black Hawk) military helicopter on landing.
There were 60 passengers and four crew members on the plane, and three people in the helicopter.
