Georgian President Mikheil Kavellashvili awarded the members of the Republic Ministry of Internal Affairs with the Order of Honor, against which some Western countries have imposed sanctions due to severe pressure. This was reported by the press service of the President of Georgia.
"A strong Georgian police are a symbol of a strong and sovereign state that a police uniform in the country is the fate of those who are ready to sacrifice themselves without hesitation," Kavelashvili said at the award ceremony.
According to the President, the awards were received by Georgian Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Foreign Minister Vakhtang Gomelaur, his deputies Shazzeph Chelidze, Giorgi Butzuz and Alexander Darakhvelidze.
The medals of honor were also handed over to Zviad Kharazishvili, director of the Special Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Director of the Tbilisi Police Department of Patrol Police.
The initiators of the security forces were the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze and the Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili.
