The number of steals from stores in the UK has reached a record level

The number of thieves from the British stores and the losses of it have reached a record level 2023-2024, the press release published on Thursday on the website of the British retail consortium (BRC).

"The number of thefts has reached a maximum of 20 million incidents," the report said.

This crime growth has led to 2.2 billion pounds for retailers, says consortium. This was the largest figure, exceeding 400 million pounds a year ago, a press release said in a statement.

The amount that the stores spend on the prevention of crime has also reached a record. In 2023-2024, retailers spent 1.8 billion pounds of installing CCTV cameras, installation of anti-luggage equipment and the number of security staff marked.

In addition, the growth of violence against employees in British stores has increased.

The number of such incidents, including sexual and physical violence, and racial curses, increased by arms a day to 2000, which is three times more than in 2020, the organization said.
