In a resolution adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Azerbaijan called on Azerbaijan to release the former military-political officials of Artsakh and other Armenians.
This is stated in the statement issued by the PACE, wrote the media.
The resolution touched upon the former military-political representatives of Artsakh, illegally and fabricated accusations, calling on Azerbaijan to release those people.
"The Assembly continues to monitor the situation with Nagorno-Karabakh and the prisoners of war, which are currently in Azerbaijan, reaffirming their call to release them."
The Assembly also expressed strict concern over democracy, the rule of law and the deterioration of human rights in Azerbaijan.
The Assembly continues to be "seriously concerned about the deterioration of democracy in Azerbaijan, political and civil society activists, media representatives and other critics of government."
The resolution calls on the Azerbaijani authorities to end the persecution and immediately release all those who have been arrested for political reasons.
It was emphasized that the 2024 presidential election in Azerbaijan did not comply with the international standards of democratic elections and took place in terms of freedom of speech and assembly freedom.
