"Fact" daily writes:
According to lawyers, businessman Karen Hakobyan has been in prison illegally since September 20, 2024, without any grounds.
In a certain sense, it can be said that an unprecedented situation has been created: Karen Hakobyan, who is accused of an economic crime and against whom, according to the lawyers, there is not even a single incriminating evidence, has been detained for almost 120 days.
Detention for such a long period of time is rare even in recent years, given the fact that all the other accused in the case are not in custody.
It is noteworthy that in the same case, under the conditions of even more serious charges, another businessman was released from custody by the decision of the court of first instance.
It is not a coincidence that Nikol Pashinyan is the "instigator" of this case. On the one hand, he declares that the cases of detention should be reduced, on the other hand, Karen Hakobyan is being detained illegally for 4 months, without any evidence of the need for it. when there is still no judgment.
Those who hold such beliefs point out that this once again indicates that both the pre-trial bodies and the entire judicial system have become Nikol Pashinyan's henchman, leading to total legal permissiveness and the complete absence of laws, which cannot remain without consequences.
It is also noteworthy that the judge of the appeals court, Artur Nahapetyan, leaving the decision of Karen Hakobyan's arrest in force, was appointed to a new position the very next day.
After that, this case was assigned to another judge, Vahe Dolmazyan, who is the same judge who left RPA Vice President Armen Ashotyan under arrest for almost 1.5 years, and now continues to use house arrest.
This judge extended Karen Hakobyan's detention for 2 months, and this fact also indirectly indicates that the choice of the judge ensures the purely arbitrary decision to apply Karen Hakobyan's detention as a preventive measure.
In the created situation, Karen Hakobyan, who is the brother of the former chairman of the "Reviving Armenia" party, the former deputy of the National Assembly Vahe Hakobyan, according to the conviction of his lawyers, continues to be a victim of legal arbitrariness.
"It is necessary to record that a "new jurisprudence" is being applied in Armenia, which, in fact, experts are not yet aware of," Hakobyan's lawyers told us.
