Called the inevitable start sign of depression

German neurologists have found that people on the edge of depression have a more gray substance than healthy participants and those who are already suffering from depression. The work was published in the NEUROPSYCHOPHARMACY (NPP) magazine.

The note brain is part of the brain associated with emotions, anxiety and memory. It is traditionally linked to depression, but previous studies have reduced the gray material to patients, especially in the event of a long process or multiple episodes.

Scientists from the University of Munster have now found that those who are only in a state of precedents, on the contrary, have more gray material in the brain than all other groups, including the patients. This can testify to the temporary vulnerability of the brain over the first episode of depression.

More than 1,700 people took part in the study. Among them were healthy volunteers, mood disorders, discomfort, and psychosis, and a special group, people developed a short time shortly after scanning.

In addition to the growth of the brain, future patients also decreased the volume of gray material in other parts of emotions and self-control. These changes were similar to the picture already in sick people.

"For the first time, our study allowed to discover the nervous markers of the depression. This can help the early diagnosis and prevention of the disease, "the authors said.
