Iran will withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in the event that Western countries use the snapback mechanism against Tehran, which implies the restoration of UN Security Council (UNSC) sanctions.
As we learn from TASS agency, this was announced by the official representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghai. Earlier, Western media reported that during the negotiations with Iran's representatives of the "European Troika", Iranian diplomats warned the Europeans about Tehran's withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and nuclear weapons. about the possibility of changing the doctrine if the West starts the snapback procedure.
"Iran has never discussed or talked with anyone about its defense or military potential.... However, if the snapback mechanism is activated, our response will be symmetrical.
We will not have reasons to stay in some contracts," Baghai answered the question about the authenticity of the information being spread.
