German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has allowed detailed technical discussions with Taliban, but the issue of Taliban recognition is not on the agenda.

"Taliban's diplomatic recognition is not on the agenda at all. The main question is how we will act in connection with this regime. And this will remain at the technical level yet, "Merz told a news conference.

Merz confirmed that a plane carrying deported Afghan citizens departed from Germany to Afghanistan.
