Yoon Seok Yeol has decided to attend the Constitutional Court hearings

The President of the Republic of Korea Yun Seok Yeol has decided to participate in the sessions of the Constitutional Court and other processes on the advice of lawyers. This was announced by the lawyer of the head of state Yun Gap Gyun.

"The president considers it regrettable that the minister, commanders and other high-ranking officers, the chief commissioner of police were taken into custody, because they performed the tasks of maintaining order and imposing martial law on the order of the president," said the lawyer.

In addition to the impeachment process in the Constitutional Court, due to the martial law cases, criminal cases were initiated under the articles of rebellion and abuse of power.

According to the lawyer, Yoon Seok-yeol decided "it is necessary to restore their name and his name by independently explaining to the General Court and the Constitutional Court that martial law is legal and there is no rebellion."

Earlier, the Yonhap news agency reported that the South Korean president arrived at the Western District Court in Seoul for a hearing on the issue of extending his detention.

Until now, Yoon Seok Yeol had not appeared at the sessions of the Constitutional Court. The first full debate took place without his participation.
