The organizer of Yaponchik's murder was sentenced to 21 years in prison (Photo)

The Moscow City Court sentenced "thief in law" Vyacheslav Ivankov, nicknamed Yaponchik, to 21 years in prison, as reported by Euromedia24.com, the Telegram channel of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia.

"Ilya Simonia, who is under investigation, was sentenced to 21 years in prison, taking into account the position of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation," the report said.

It is noted that the reason for Yaponchik's murder in 2009 was the "redistribution of spheres of influence" between criminal groups.

In August, the court sentenced Astamur Butba, accused in the case of Yaponchik's murder, to 19 years of imprisonment in a high-security colony in absentia. In September 2023, the court sentenced 46-year-old Nugzar Papava to 16 years in prison for complicity in the murder of a thief.
