Novo's son arrested, then released not for gas theft scandal, but for bodyguard and weapons

Yesterday night, the police "ceremoniously" detained the son of former RPA deputy Nahapet Gevorgyan, nicknamed "Novo", and his bodyguard from the center of Yerevan, on suspicion of possessing illegal weapons and ammunition and for walking around with a bodyguard, and quickly released him.

Euromedia24's information was confirmed by Gevorgyan's relatives, who were also somewhat surprised, as they connected the news of the arrest of the former deputy's son with the gas theft scandal spread in the media.

We are talking about the noise raised around several gas stations owned by Novo, which according to press releases, is connected with gas theft from the common gas supply main to Armenia and conflicting tax documents, which were provided to the SRC after the findings of inspectors and the closure of one of the gas stations belonging to the latter company.

The press made several publications about Novo's preferential gas theft, and it was written that they reported to Moscow from "Gazprom Armenia" and then received instructions from there to solve the problem through law enforcement. The cart did not move, however, after the management of "Gazprom Armenia" of Armenia appealed directly to the Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, and then applications were sent to the then Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan, the former chairman of the SRC Rustam Badasyan and the head of the State Security Service Romanos Petrosyan.

However, let's note that yesterday's short-term arrest was not for the discovery of alleged illegal activity or sponsorship related to the gas station, but also for the suspicion of walking around with bodyguards and possessing illegal weapons and ammunition.
