US President Joe Biden has decided to cancel his visit to Italy due to the fires that broke out in California, which killed at least five people. He also declared a state of calamity in the state.
This was stated in the statement released by White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre on Wednesday.
"After returning this evening from Los Angeles, where earlier today he met with police, fire and emergency personnel battling the historic fires raging in the area, and following a disaster declaration in California, President Biden has decided to cancel his upcoming visit.
Italy should focus on managing the response at the federal level," the document said.
