The head of the new Syrian authorities, Ahmed al-Sharaa, will make his first foreign visit to Turkey. It can happen as soon as possible, Yeni Şafak newspaper reports.
According to the publication, the visit was supposed to take place in the coming days, but it was postponed due to changes in the program. During the visit, al-Sharaa is expected to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whom, as the newspaper writes, the leader of the new Syrian government intends to thank for his support in overthrowing Bashar al-Assad's administration.
Yeni Şafak reminds that after the opposition came to power in Syria, the first foreign representative to visit Damascus was the head of the Turkish Intelligence Service, Ibrahim Kalin. Following him, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visited the Syrian capital.
