The German Rheinmetall industrial concern has sent the first Lynx armored infantry vehicle to the armed forces of Ukraine, which is being tested in Ukraine, the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports.
"Currently, the armored vehicle is being tested in the armed forces there, in order to start its serial production as soon as possible," the publication quoted the CEO of Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger. Earlier, the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences predicted that Germany would continue economic and provide military support to Ukraine, but the aid volumes will be reduced compared to 2024.
"Berlin will transfer to Kiev about 40 Leopard 1 tanks, a Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled installation, about 15 medium and short-range IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile complexes, Dachs engineering tanks, drones and artillery shells," the institute's report states. Germany is the second largest aid donor country. is for Ukraine, second only to the USA.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the settlement of the conflict, directly involve NATO countries in the conflict and "play with fire". The Kremlin has stated that sending weapons to Ukraine from the West does not contribute to the negotiations and will have a negative impact.
