Biden favors tighter gun control

US President Joe Biden, after the assassination attempt against the candidate for the highest position of the state, Donald Trump, again expressed the need to tighten the control of the circulation of firearms in the country. "During the assassination attempt against Donald Trump, an AR-15 [rifle] was used," he said, adding that " the assault weapon was used to kill many other people, including children." "It's time to ban it," the president emphasized while speaking at the National Association for the Advancement of Black People (NAACP) convention in Las Vegas (Nevada). Earlier, he repeatedly called on the Congress to implement legislative initiatives to tighten the control of firearm circulation. In his speech, the US president expressed his satisfaction that the Republican "was not seriously injured" as a result of the assassination attempt. "We continue to pray for him and his family," said Biden, repeating the thesis of the need to lower the "temperature" of American politics. However, he has repeatedly criticized both Trump and the policy that the US conducted during his tenure as the head of state (2017-2021).
