Foreigners staying in Russia illegally must adjust their legal status or leave the country on their own by April 30, 2025, according to a decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin published on the legal information portal, RIA Novosti reports.
Provisions on verification of presence in the register of aliens and stateless persons will take effect on February 5, 2025, immediately after the entry into force of the corresponding provisions of the federal legislation, the message clarifies.
The requirement will not apply to foreigners who want to stay in Russia legally and fulfill several conditions for this: provide biometric data, pass a drug test, and pass Russian language and history tests.
