Xi Jinping expressed condolences over Carter's death

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a telegram of condolence to US President Joe Biden on the death of former head of the White House Jimmy Carter. This was reported by China Central Television.

"Former President Carter promoted the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States and made relevant decisions, and for a long time he made important contributions to the development of China-US relations, as well as friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. I deeply regret his death," Xi Jinping said.

He added that "China-US relations are one of the most important bilateral relations in the world."

Beijing is ready to work with Washington to promote the development of bilateral relations in a healthy and stable manner, which is in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples and the expectations of the international community, the Chinese leader concluded.
